The Pirates spent every afternoon last week in a gigantic hinterhof at the far end of Sonnenallee, in the heart of Neukölln. Here, we collaborated with the Kindertreff Waschküche, a kids club focusing on social & pedagogical support for children in the area.
We filled the afternoons with open air Zirkusspielen (circus games) and stations for kids to learn new props like juggling, flowersticks, hoop and rings. We even brought a parkour trainer in one afternoon to support kids in getting creative with the urban space around and how it can be used (though they already had so many ideas!)
We finished the week with a small show behind the basketball hoops by a few of our crew. We warmed up from the cold weather with some funky hoop, levistick, poi, acrobatics and dragon staff tricks to show what all this circus nonsense can inspire in people!
